Serpentine Jade is not just dedicated to the education of it's members but also to the education of dancers in our local community. We have a goal of hosting workshops with amazing special guest teachers a few times a year. This is a chance to sharpen skills, sample a new style, or try out a new dance prop.
Workshops are currently held at Chateau Mason in Gaffney, SC.

Saturday, March 21, Upstate Slay Day, Taught by Geri Lyn
We are excited to host Geri Lyn, a certified affiliate instructor of the Boho Blade and Movement Foundations with certifications in Face Yoga, Reflexology, Somatic Healing and Beach Therapy, to share her love of the blade with you... starting from the ground up.
This 3 hour workshop will kick off with a wellness warmup including Face Yoga (to bring out your goddess glow), Grounding (to connect your feet to your body and bring energy from the earth below to your dance above), and Gentle Somatic Stretching (to prepare your muscles and mind for dancing with a sword as a partner).
After which you will be instructed in the foundations of the Boho Blade and Movement program including safety guidelines, planes, grips, power poses and combinations. As we progress we will create a choreography you can use as the basis for personal performance in the future.
Whether you have been dancing with a sword for 20 years or are new to the blade you will be introduced to concepts to elevate your performance on the dance floor and in life.
We will round out a day of SLAY (sincere love and appreciation for yourself) with a casual hafla following the workshop.
$45 for the workshop and $5 for the hafla (free to workshop participants). Please contact Angela on FB (https://www.facebook.com/angela.reek.18) to reserve your spot. Due to the intimate size of the studio and SWORDS we are limiting participant numbers.
